Void of Vision - Das Ende

The Newcastle Hotel turned it out for the second instalment of Void Of Vision’s ‘Das Ende’ Australian Tour on Saturday 12th August. Off the back of recent Knotfest tour dates, Melbourne’s metal monsters have taken to the road in support of the recent Chronicles EP, presented by Destroy All Lines. Joining VOV on stage for the East Coast leg, American Metalcore acts Like Moths to Flames and Varials alongside Thailand’s Annalynn are taking over a venue near you with a huge raucous of sound.

Patrons turned up early to welcome Annalynn to the stage in what can only be described as a HEAVY set. Hailing from Bangkok, Annalynn recently became the only Thailand Metal Band to sign with Australia’s Greyscale Records. The ‘Das Ende’ Tour has brought Annalynn to Australia for the first time since the band was established in 2003. Novocastrians were greeted with an implosion of energetic sound which commanded circles and bodies smashed in mutual agreeance. The short set was packed with everything that is metal, Annalynn portrayed their blessings in the intimate setting, shouting “Thank you so fucking much mate!”

After a brief stage transition, Philadelphia’s Varials attacked the crowd with an amalgamation of industrial metalcore and powerful melodic address. After 10 years in the industry, Varials invariably brought vigour to The Newcastle Hotel, including tracks like Stigmata and Halo of the Sun, punctuated with an emphatic Mic drop.

Shouts to the punter live streaming the Matilda’s game who drew his own crowd while awaiting US Metalcore giants, Like Moths to Flames to take the reins. Formed in 2010 by former members of bands, including The Crimson Armada, Agraceful and Emarosa, the set was packed full of energy and slam moshing. The crowd responded in ease when lead vocalist Chris Roetter commanded, “When I say jump, you fucking jump,” coupled with speedy riffs and distorted guitars, causing the heaviest mosh of the night.

All eyes were front of stage as Void Of Vision finally took control of the hotel. Clad in a black spike mask, lead singer Jack Bergin led a set that is synonymous with the frontman he has become. Belting out tracks such as Dominatrix, ASMR and Ghost in the Machine, with a ferocious heavy sound, the mosh heaved at the heavy onslaught, shutting down the night in the darkest of forms.

A massive thanks to The Newcastle Hotel and attendees for the hospitality and Destroy All Lines for bringing the ‘Das Ende’ Tour around the country. Tickets are still available for upcoming events via www.destroyalllines.com
