Kiss - The Final Curtain

The curtain has been lowered for a final time in Sydney, Australia for the legendary rock band – KISS. Since KISS Hysteria took over Australian rock fans and their first tour to our shores in 1980, the hard rockers have visited our shores many times and are well known for their explosive live shows, blood spitting, flaming rockets and extravagant stage design. In fact, the man responsible for the Lighting Design for KISS since 2008 has been Australia’s own Sean ‘Motley’ Hackett. From the moment the lights went down KISS burst onto the stage with "Detroit Rock City," with tens of thousands of fans exploding into a frenzy. The energy in the Sydney Accor Stadium was electric, and as expected, the high-octane glam rock showmanship from KISS did not disappoint.  The crowd sang along to every song, with the KISS band members interacting throughout making everyone feel like part of the show. It was an unforgettable night filled with amazing music, pyrotechnics, and pure rock and roll.

Solid supports from Californian rockers ‘Wheezer’ drew the crowd closer to the stage. Having sold over 35 million albums worldwide, Weezer well known for their orchestral pop style tunes, wowed Sydney fans as the band returned for the first time since 2018.

A solid and powerhouse set from Australia’s own Regurgitator who exploded onto stage dressed as nuns was certainly a highlight of a superb night of rock music even if their sometimes crude and controversial lyrics and humor brought about an awkward atmosphere for many. Given it was a multi-generational audience, songs such as “I will lick you areshole’ may have been questionable choices for an audience that for one thing included many young children.

Kicking off the night, The Delta Riggs quickly raised the energy of the Accor stadium as crowds began to arrive. The Delta Riggs certainly set the scene for the next three hours of music before the main event, with a very energetic performance from this emerging Australian band.
