The History of Hardware

Hardware founder Richie McNeill sorting through the memories

On New Years Eve 1991, Hardware threw its first rave party at the Mercantile Rowing Club, on the banks of the Yarra River in Melbourne’s CBD as a fundraiser for his dad’s charity, helping young kids throughout Victoria. Fast forward 30 years on and Hardware is delivering events to Australia, just the scale has changed. Hardware have secured not only Melbourne but Australia’s place on the international event map for electronic music festivals.

From Apollo to Two Tribes, Stereosonic to Festival X, no one can dispute Hardware’s impact on the Australian electronic music scene.

Owner, Richie McNeill used his time during the Covid lockdowns to consolidate the countless flyers, photos and memories to create True Faith : 30 the book. True Faith : 30 is 440 glossy pages full of stories, photos and posters which tells the history of the company and its contribution to Australian Music Industry.
