Boone’s Top 4 Collaborators Wishlist

Grimes:

One of my all-time favourtite artists, her ‘sonic aesthetic’ feels like you’re a character in a sci-fi movie. I already know her vocals would be so easy to mix too, nice and high and breathy— just give me some sweet hooks and we’re on!

The xx:

The indie-pop vocal style of Oliver and Romy is something I really really like to hear in dance music - when their vocals stack together it sounds almost folky BUT the palm-muted guitars bring it into an indie-dance world. I think I’d convince Jamie xx to add some crunchier drums and then we could be onto something!

Disclosure:

I would become an absolute student during our time together, I would steal every bit of pop songwriting magic I could from Guy and Howard. Those two really have the perfect ratio of pop-to-dance that make their tracks timeless. I’ve already stolen Guy’s entire master-chain so we pretty much already are collaborating on every one of my songs.

Nelly Furtado/Timbaland:

I bundled these two together because I’m talking about a very specific Nelly Furtado album that has become my holy grail. Every time I have a session with a vocalist I show them ‘Promiscuous,’ ‘Maneater,’ and ‘All good things come to an end’ and I literally say: “These are perfect songs with the perfect hooks.” I get jealous every time I hear these songs —the production has so much character and the vocals are timeless— I wish I made them.
