Let The Good Times Roll
Let The Good Times Roll - Sun 10th December 2023
Sunday 10th December 2023, The Entrance was host to the Let The Good Times Roll festival, a celebration of music and summer vibes. Held in Memorial Park, the festival spanned two stages - the Field Stage featuring a focus on punk and psych rock and the Ocean Stage with a more relaxed influence of pop rock and funk. The festival was headlined by juggernauts Six60, Royal Blood and Grinspoon and featured other legendary acts such as The Buoys, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Skegss, Coterie and The Cat Empire.
Below are a few of my personal highlights from the day:
Little Quirks' chemistry with one another was a lot of fun to watch.
The Buoy's FULL set. "I Want You" is one of the greatest songs to come out this year and I'm so fortunate to be able to hear it live.
Coterie's chill set yet with a big personality. Their version of "Slice of Heaven", one of the greatest songs to ever be released is a delight.
Psychedelic Porn Crumpet's fast-paced psych rock.
The Bamboo's Kylie Auldist stole the show with her soulful vocals.
The Cat Empire frontman Felix Riebl's infectious energy. He has a stage presence that makes it impossible to not enjoy yourself and I believe that's essential to The Cat Empire's brand.
Laidback vibes from Six60 to finish off the Ocean Stage with hits such as "Don't Forget Your Roots", "Sundown" and "Raining". The crowd joining in harmony as the day starts to unwind.
Heavy guitar/bass tones and tight drum fills from UK rock duo Royal Blood. Drummer Ben Thatcher joined the crowd and encouraged a pit straight after the first song of their set.
Grinspoon's hard-hitting set, kicking off with "DCx3" and Phil Jamieson's attitude. You can't go wrong. Their set full of hits such as "Chemical Heart" and "Hard Act To Follow", with festival goers singing along.
A variety of food trucks and bevs to stay refreshed. It was a hot one.
With a view of the Entrance channel and a variety of fantastic acts, the setting was perfect. Thanks to Kingdom Sounds and Lunar Creative for inviting us out to an unforgettable day of music. We can't wait for the next one!
