Boney M - The Final Curtain Tour
There are some shows that feel bigger than the night itself, and Boney M at The Forum was one of them. Walking into that room, there was already a sense of occasion — not just another gig, but a chance to witness a piece of music history still very much alive.
Boney M’s legacy hangs heavy in the best way. Decades on, their music still carries that unmistakable disco pulse that’s crossed generations, cultures, and dance floors around the world. You could feel that in the crowd straight away — a real mix of ages, all there for the same reason, all knowing exactly what those songs mean.
When they hit the stage, the energy didn’t feel dated or nostalgic in a tired way. It felt earned. There was a joy to it, a sense that these songs still matter because they’ve never really left. The Forum suited it perfectly too — intimate enough to feel connected, but grand enough to hold that larger-than-life presence Boney M have always had.
Mazie Williams carried herself with the kind of presence you can’t fake. There’s a history there, and you feel it the second she steps out. It wasn’t just about performing songs, it was about representing something that’s lasted far beyond its era. The crowd gave that respect right back, turning the room into something that felt more like a celebration than a standard set.
Getting the chance to photograph Mazie Williams on a night like this was honestly something special. Moments like that don’t come around often — being that close to an artist who’s been part of such an iconic legacy, capturing those expressions, that energy, that history in real time. It’s the kind of experience that reminds you why you pick up a camera in the first place.
The night never felt like it was trying to recreate the past. It felt like the past and present sitting comfortably side by side. Boney M aren’t just a name people recognise — they’re a sound, a feeling, a piece of culture that still knows how to fill a room.
At The Forum, that legacy felt very real. And for a couple of hours in Melbourne, it was impossible not to get swept up in it
