The Davidson Brothers are ready for Molesworth

The Molesworth Bluegrass & Country Music Festival is running from the 3rd -5th of November in picture-perfect Molesworth, Victoria and we don’t know who’s more excited, the punters or the artists themselves. This all-Australian festival has stayed true to its roots, delivering the best artists across the Bluegrass and Country genres in a safe family-friendly environment. Headliners, The Davidson Brothers are set to hit the stage on Saturday night and their excited to be performing to live audiences, especially in the festival environment they love so much. We caught up with Hamish Davidson to ask him some questions about Molesworth, the preparation needed for a festival and who they are excited to see from the three-day lineup.

You are one of the acts announced for the 2023 Molesworth Bluegrass & Country Music Festival in Molesworth, Victoria on November 3rd – 5th. Do you enjoy playing festivals and being a part of that festival scene and atmosphere?

Hell yeah! Festivals have been a big part of our lives for as long as we remember. This is where culture starts and where friendships are formed. The jams backstage are always memorable.

How do you prepare yourself for a festival event like Molesworth?

Mate, the kit is always ready to go!! Banjos in the boot. Bung on a swish shirt. Off we go!

Take Me to the Mountains … Molesworth is in the direction of the high country and we love playing this song
— Hamish Davidson

What’s the one song from your catalogue that you HAVE to include in a festival set and why?

Take Me to the Mountains” … Molesworth is in the direction of the high country and we love playing this song. It feels a bit like our theme song. It sums up who we are.

Apart from your own, who's set are you most looking forward to at Molesworth?

Honestly, I can’t wait to hear Pete Denahy talking garbage in between the bands. I live for that man’s dribbly patter. Darlinghurst are solid too. I can drink to that!

If you could jump on stage and collaborate with any artist or band from the Molesworth line-up, who would it be and why?

Peter Denahy. We have a long history, and it’s guaranteed to be fun.

The pickin’ also moderates the drinkin’.
— Hamish Davidson

What's your favourite festival memory as a scheduled act or attendee?

The late-night bluegrass jams always do it for me. The pickin’ also moderates the drinkin’. We’ve played music for hours with people we’ve never even spoken to.

Do you find festivals are a good way to expand your fanbase as you can showcase your music to people who haven’t heard you before?

Yeah, god yeah. It’s one of the best crowd-building tools and you get many opportunities to build genuine connections with people.

Do you have a message for the attendees who are heading to the Molesworth Bluegrass & Country Festival?

Instead of liking some artists and not others, challenge yourself to try and identify something that you like about every artist.
