New Year’s is coming and we can’t wait! NYE in the Park is the only festival taking place in Sydney on NYE and after attending last year’s event, trust us when we say this is one crakka of a party. The line-up for NYE in the Park includes Australian and International artists and bands, many of who have been on tour overseas, and are returning for the Harbour city’s best New Year’s event. MFA caught up with some of the line-up to ask them about NYE in the Park, what fans can look forward to and who’s set they’re most keen to watch. Next on the list is the fabulously charismatic Ollie & Louis from Lime Cordiale.

It’s also our only Sydney show for the foreseeable future so we better make the most of it!

You are one of the Artists confirmed to perform at NYE in the Park, the only festival event happening in Sydney on NYE. Are you excited to be a part of this celebration to welcome in the new year?

You better believe it. Sydney is our home town and we NEVER get to spend New Year’s at home so we’re super excited! It’s also our only Sydney show for the foreseeable future so we better make the most of it!

NYE in the Park is a long-standing event with a diverse bunch of attendees, set in the middle of the harbour city.  Have you participated before and if not what are you anticipating?

Nope! Never attended. But this is one of the best areas of Sydney, maybe even Australia! We don’t have enough urban festivals. I think the city is going to be buzzing before and after the event so I’m keen to be around all day.

There’s also some insane artists playing that we need to watch before we play!

How do you prepare yourself for a festival event like NYE in the Park?

That’s what freaks me out a bit. We need to be thinking about the show so can’t get too silly beforehand. There’s also some insane artists playing that we need to watch before we play! Becca Hatch, Grentperez, San Cisco, Cut Copy. How are we meant to stay focused?!
Louis and I always do some vocal warm-up runs over the new songs like Country Club or Colin

we won’t be playing in Sydney for a while after this so we’ll be going hard and will be playing tunes that might not make the setlist for future shows.

What can punters expect from your upcoming performance at this New Year’s Eve event? Any surprises planned?

I like to do the NYE countdown a bit premature. Confuse everyone who’s phone is out of battery and doesn’t know what time it is. No, but seriously, we won’t be playing in Sydney for a while after this so we’ll be going hard and will be playing tunes that might not make the setlist for future shows.

Apart from your own, who's set are you most looking forward to seeing played at NYE in the Park?

Grentperez I reckon. We’ve played a few festivals with him but haven’t ever caught his set. He’s bloody great.

If you could collaborate with any artist from this great line-up, who would it be and why?

Flight Facilities for sure. But I wanna pay the synths!

We don’t have enough urban festivals

What does a normal NYE look like for you? How do you usually ring in the New Year?

We always have a show somewhere. But recently they’ve been affected by bushfires or COVID so let’s bloody hope this one is the ONE!

What is your message for everyone who's coming to NYE in the Park?

Other than slip, slop, slap?
