Ma Tijo is Mi Casa Su Casa bound.
Mi Casa Su Casa returns with its pure electronic music lineup in 2023. The festival will once again take place in Port Macquarie on the NSW Mid North Coast except this year’s event has moved to an even better location, closer to the town’s main beach and literally 30m from the water with views unmatched from a music festival. This year’s artists include returning acts Nick Reverse and The Ibex Switch as well as some new faces including Ma Tijo. MFA caught up with the Gold Coast based female DJ to ask her about what she has planned for Mi Casa Su Casa.
You have been announced as one of the Artists to perform at the 2023 edition of Mi Casa Su Casa happening beachside in beautiful Port Macquarie on the 28th of January. Are you excited to be a part of the line-up for the second event from Su Casa Entertainment?
I am very excited to be a part of the line-up! I think it’s going to be such a good time and a beachside festival in the summertime is definitely my kind of vibe!
How do you prepare yourself for a festival set like Mi Casa Su Casa as opposed to a club set? Is there much difference in your planning?
When planning for a festival I definitely want to make sure I have my best tracks ready as I really want to make the most of the performance time and keep the dance floor pumping the entire set!
For those that haven’t heard your music before, what genre would you place yourself in the world of EDM?
I like to mix it up in my sets and incorporate a number of different genres such as bass house, dark house, techno, tech house, progressive trance and mid-tempo bass! I’m very versatile when it comes to genres because I love a lot of styles and in return, it keeps the crowd happy.
Do you enjoy playing festivals and being a part of that festival scene and atmosphere?
I love it! The energy that you get from a crowd really makes me remember why I started doing music. It really brings people together and to be a part of that is so much fun.
Do you find festivals present your music to new fans or people who haven’t heard you before?
I honestly believe it’s one of the best ways to get your music out there. Festivals bring so many people from different areas together and if you play a set that stands out in their day you can make a huge impact. I love playing live because it truly gives your audience the experience of your music, plus seeing the audience reaction is always great and such a vibe! It stands out way more than recording or online presence ever will!
Empire Touring’s General Manager, Isobel Lanesman has said “many festival lineups have an underrepresentation of women “. Do you believe there is equal opportunity within the festival scene?
The EDM festival scene is definitely predominantly male but I am seeing a lot of festival organisers pushing for more female artist’s on their lineups now which is great!
What’s the one essential you HAVE to take to a show?
It’s probably my girlfriend! She’s my number 1 support unit as well as my hype girl! As long as she’s there, I know I’ve got a crowd haha!
