See you at The Boogie Bar

A brand-new place to go on a Saturday night is opening in Melbourne. Your new home of House, Disco and Classics, The Boogie Bar, located off Chapel Street launches on the 6th of May with 2 levels, free entry, happy hour from 8pm-10pm and even an open-fire cocktail bar. Perfect for those winter Saturday nights in Melbourne. We caught up with The Boogie Bar’s promoter & DJ Mark James to ask him about the new venture and what people can expect when heading to the new place to be seen!

May 6th sees the official opening of The Boogie Bar on Chapel St, Windsor, are you excited to open the doors to the public and get this regular Saturday party started?

Yes we’re very excited to get the doors open and to be playing some funky house and retro grooves.

What can punters expect when heading to the The Boogie Bar?

The Boogie Bar is an art decor renovated bar/club over 2 levels with an open fire cocktail bar and featuring DJs spinning vinyl classics. It will also feature Melbourne’s biggest and best house DJ’s upstairs.

I wanted to put the fun back into a night
— Mark James

What was the catalyst for creating The Boogie Bar? Was there a moment you can pinpoint or was this an idea you have been contemplating for a while?

I wanted to put the fun back into a night , I’ve found a lot of Melbourne clubs push a more underground tech vibe, We are steering away from that format and will be featuring upfront house, disco and classics .

Are you glad life seems to be returning to normal especially as far as live music and the Australian club scene is concerned?

Yes, but it’s still a very long road back in terms of normal or big attendances, people are still cautious with regards to where and how they spend their money .

The Boogie Bar is set to support local established and emerging DJ's, is this an important part of nurturing Australia's music industry as well as potentially finding talent to sign for your Record Label, Two Tribes?

100% I’ve always been about supporting and opening doors up for new talent.

Will The Boogie Bar be running DJ Residencies or will it have an ever changing list of artists?

The Boogie Bar will feature different DJ’s week to week .

What are the best and worst parts of having a multi artist bill? Do egos ever get in the way?

Most professional DJ’s I deal with don’t really have an ego it’s their managers that do .

You worked with global superstar KYGO to bring his Palm Tree Festival to Australia for the first time this year, so can we expect any surprises or international big names to appear at The Boogie Bar when Palm Tree returns in 2024?

Who knows, we will have to wait and find out, but anything is possible 😊

We are providing a relaxed and safe venue that plays awesome house music
— Mark James

Who in The Boogie Bar crew or team deserves a shout out ? And what is it they do or have done to help in the creation of this project?

All the opening DJ’s have been really supportive and big hugs go out to, Andy Van, Wunderkind, Rubber People, Benny S, Mark Santa, Liz Millar and Larr

Finally, Do you have a message for the club-goers of Melbourne? Why should they be heading to The Boogie Bar every Saturday night?

Apart from free entry and happy hours 8pm-10pm, we are  providing a relaxed and safe venue that plays awesome house music 😉
