Aloha Festival
A new coastal festival combining live music, surf films and beach culture is heading to Sydney’s Northern Beaches, with Aloha Festival set to make its debut at Dee Why Beach on Saturday the 6th of March.
Headlined by Wolfmother and Ball Park Music, with special guests Yothu Yindi, the all-ages event will also feature Dune Rats, The Terrys, The Beautiful Girls, Mid Drift and The Beefs. With capacity for up to 15,000 people, organisers are aiming to deliver the Northern Beaches’ biggest festival in more than two decades.
Presented by Perfect Wave Travel, Aloha Festival will bring together music, surfing and community in a unique beachfront setting. Curated by the Australian Surf Film Festival, a selection of iconic and contemporary surf films will screen on the main stage between live performances, keeping the entertainment going throughout the day. The film program includes John Florence’s Hawaiian Aloha Festival exclusive, Jack Johnson’s The September Sessions, Stacy Peralta’s The Yin and Yang of Gerry Lopez and George Greenough’s classic Echoes, alongside restored surf-film favourites and new releases featuring some of the sport’s leading names.
Beyond the music and films, the festival will feature a range of cultural and community activations, including First Nations programming, a celebration of the connection between Hawaiian and Australian surf culture, a market village, food and wine experiences, a kids’ area and health and wellness activities. Community impact will also be central to the event, with initiatives focused on shark education and ocean safety, mental health, environmental sustainability and coastal protection. Partnerships with organisations including SharkSmart, Surf Life Saving NSW, Gotcha4Life, Blue Minds and Take 3 for the Sea will help deliver these programs.
Aloha Festival is designed to be more than a music event, creating a space for the Northern Beaches community to reconnect through music, culture and a shared love of the ocean.
