Beat Around The World

What happens when you put a bunch of talented artists in one room? A collaboration usually, but Beat around The World is a collaboration on a global scale. The idea for the whole project arose at the end of last year, when two members of BACKDROP RECORDS, YaKnow?Check! & Stray Side, decided to join forces and capitalize on years of experience and show how strong their love for Hip Hop is.

Stray Side - Beat Around the World is a conceptual producer album with worldwide appearances, with 26 MCs and 8 DJs from 7 countries. Australian talent is well represented with 8MCs and 4DJs being home grown. Highly renowned Producer, Stray Side, from Opava in the Czech Republic was responsible for the all the production and the final mix. YaKnow?Check! came up with the concept and story of the album and put his communication skills to the test to connect all the dots to make the project not only a reality but also as complex & consistent as possible. The result is organic and fresh, while still being a Hip Hop album.

The first single and music video from the international conceptual album, ‘Beat Around the World’, ‘Journey’ features Brooklyn based hip hop duo M-TRI & DJ Leecy T and rapper Mighty Ash from Australia. This collaboration takes the listener from the Czech Republic all the way to Brooklyn, NY USA and Blue Mountains, Australia. The classic sound of this track with its b-boy like style in combination with the lyrical delivery and DJ skills showcases the classic amalgamation of MC and DJ and best represents the album as a whole. Stray Side stepped into a new role to make the music video for the single as well as producing the track, having to cohesively edit the footage sent from the international artists bringing three countries together despite pandemic isolation.

The album Beat Around The World, is being released digitally, on CD and a Vinyl edition with a board game.
