Georgia Fields - Top four favourite venues to perform at
Brunswick Ballroom, Melbourne
This is one of Australia’s best band rooms – excellent view to the stage from every seat in the house, exquisite sound, they have a grand piano (!) and a stunning led light ceiling. This venue has been on my dream list for a while, and I can’t wait to play with my band on Saturday 19 November. We’re kicking off the album tour at Brunswick Ballroom – and it’s a matinee, so the sunlight will be streaming through those gorgeous led light windows. Magic.
2. Under the Theatre Royal Pear Tree, Castlemaine
Speaking of magic… Theatre Royal is the oldest continually operating cinema on Australia’s mainland. They’re known for their excellent programming of new and classic films, and for hosting some of Australia’s greatest artists in the theatre itself… But as the weather warms, they occasionally host outdoor concerts their picturesque courtyard, under the golden dappled light of their pear tree. Their famous housemade pizzas, prosecco, room for the kids to run around and head butt each other… I’m wrapping up my album tour on Sunday 18 December with such a show. Meet you there.
3. Eclectic, kooky “hidden gems” – Lazybones, It’s Still A Secret
Imagine a dive bar crossed with a grandma’s handbag. I love playing these eclectic, hidden gems! Craft beers on tap, red velvet curtains, lace doilies, vintage knick knacks on weird little shelves that serve no purpose, perhaps an actual turntable with actual vinyl spinning… Couches that look cool but feel mysteriously sqwelchy when you sit in them… It’s a vibe. 4. The Corner Hotel
It’s iconic for a reason! Yes, from an audience perspective the pillars are annoying if you’re stuck behind one of them… but boy howdy it’s the best sound system in Melbourne. Singing through that PA is the definition of heaven.
