Hot Glue’s Top 4 Australian Music Icons

  • Julia Jacklin

: We love Julia Jacklin’s songwriting, her honesty is definitely something that inspires our own music. We’ve all seen her live multiple times and she has a very earnest presence. I think we’ve all shed a tear watching her play.

    Our favourite song: Head Alone

  • The Veronicas

: The Veronicas were huge for us growing up. We used to record pretend music videos to their songs and we had all their CDs. As a fellow sister-fronted band, they were definitely icons to us as kids.

Our favourite song: When It All Falls Apart

  • Middle Kids

: Middle Kids are one of our family’s favourite bands. I think we saw them live for the first time before we’d even started Hot Glue. They’re really easy to come back to and have a special place in our hearts.

    Our favourite song: Bought It

  • Jade Imagine

: This band was one of the first live acts we (Henry & Lily) went to together when they supported Alvvays at the Corner Hotel. Both of us loved the tight and yet casual rock songs of the band, and for Henry their rhythms and song structure are an inspiration when writing some of the drums parts in our own songs.

Our favourite song: Gonna Do Nothing
