Nathan Cavaleri’s Top 4 Stages he’s played on

1. BluesFest Byron Bay
- The first time I ever smelt weed was in 1996 when I played the stages of a very different Bluesfest Byron Bay. It was a lot more intimate and rootsy. After touring the US, it showed me that blues based music has a place in Australia. Fast forward to 2011 and 2022, I’m equally as moved by the BluesFest experience. Differences aside, playing to such a connected festival audience and smashing some hot Byron Bay doughnuts afterwards makes for a damn good time!

2. Lucky Bay Brewery Esperance - Outside under the stars with nerves calmed by a beautiful country sea breeze from some of Australia’s best beaches. It’s the only time where I’m okay with people not clapping after a song. We’re all just blissing out!

3. Nannup Music Festival - This festival is so organically at one with nature, you could almost plug into the trees for power. The village of our accom had more loitering Kangaroos and Emus than humans which was an awesome reminder to keep things simple. The audiences were a complete reflection of the environment and the teams behind the festival as a whole. It’s no wonder why many artists travel to play this festival!

4. The Old Post Office Campbelltown aka my mums coffee shop in 1993 - This is where it all started for me - Busking out front of mum’s coffee shop making more money than what I later found out was a brothel upstairs. Those gigs bought me my first amp, and ignited the spark to play professionally. It also helped to take my mind off treatment for Leukaemia.
