Eastmint
My longtime pals Gen and Esala created (and now maintain) this artist-run studio and performance space which has been putting on gigs since 2011. Every show is a special time at Eastmint - the music is eclectic and moving, the audience is always enthralled, and of course, the homemade laksa is a must for dinner.
The Gasometer Hotel
I’m playing my album launch at The Gaso (and played my last one there too) so I must really like it! It’s got such a friendly vibe and has stood the test of time for a music-focused pub venue. Awesome PA set-up. Oh, and when the main room roof is open on a summer’s day - what a sight!
The Forum
The first time I brought a mate to the Forum who’d never been he looked up and did a double-take at that night sky over the stage - it never gets old looking up at the stars while immersed in a show. I’ve seen some of my fave acts here over the years too - Sufjan Stevens, Smog, Big Thief, Augie March, Steve Earle… and a bunch of others.
The Northcote Social Club
The NSC is in my neighbourhood, so it’s awesome when a show is on and I can walk around the corner to get there. Such a great spot for local artists on the rise, that sweet point when someone needs a bit more standing room for their growing crowds. I don’t mind their trivia nights too - my team won the Seinfeld one last year!
