Paul Lynch’s Top things he looks for when booking Live Nation’s OnesToWatch

Live Nation’s Paul Lynch tells us the top things he looks for when booking Live Nation’s OnesToWatch

  • Most importantly the music has to be great and stand out amongst the rest. The OnesToWatch showcase is open to all contemporary genres so I do like to have a mix of different styles, so that does come into play when narrowing down the selection. I receive dozens of submissions for each showcase and narrow the selection down to 3. There are so many talented emerging artists we have in Australia so the process does take time. During the process of selecting the artists for the upcoming showcase, I also create a shortlist of acts to book for future showcases when the time is right.

  • An important component I look for when selecting the artists, is that they have an existing local fanbase, whether that be a small community around them or an established following to the point that they are already selling out some small capped rooms, in their local city.

  • The artist has a great team around them, from agents, managers and label (whether major or independent).
