Palm Tree Festival
The Palm Tree Festival in Sydney Showgrounds’s The Dome on December 6th proved once again why it’s a staple for all EDM music lovers. With smooth entry logistics and an electric lineup, the event delivered an unforgettable experience. From dynamic warmups to explosive finales, each act brought its unique flavour, keeping the energy soaring throughout the night.
Opening the evening, Daya set the stage ablaze with her captivating vocals and dynamic presence, supported by two backup dancers. Her performance was the perfect warm-up, drawing the crowd into the festival’s energy. Her charisma and talent laid a strong foundation for the night ahead.
Austin Millz brought a nostalgic vibe to the dome, spinning old-school classics with a modern twist. Adding a bit of Fred Again’s magic, he created an atmosphere that got everyone moving. His set ended on a high note with "Praise You,"uniting the crowd in appreciation of his talent. The family photo he took with the audience added a personal touch, solidifying his connection with fans.
Gryffin’s grand entrance, accompanied by a camera and entourage, immediately amped up the excitement. His versatility shone through as he alternated between electric guitar solos and high-energy DJing. With fireworks accentuating his harder-hitting tracks, Gryffin delivered an unforgettable performance, highlighted by his collaborations ‘Tie Me Down’ with Elley Duhé and ‘Feel Good’ with ILLENIUM. A massive fan favourite, Gryffin left the crowd in awe.
Australia’s favourite party-starting duo, Peking Duk who answered the call when Alesso had to pull out of the series due to health issues, brought unmatched energy and flair to the festival. Dressed to impress, the pair delivered a set that showcased their own hits like “Fire”, "Wasted” & “Fake Magic” blended with classics such as "Sweet Dreams" and "Bittersweet Symphony" which were reimagined for a younger audience, complete with deep bass drops and fresh twists. Their set culminated in a medley of fan-favourite, including "Take Me Over" and "Black Betty," leaving the crowd exhilarated.
The Chainsmokers, who were grateful to be back after 6 years and away from the chilly American weather, closed the festival with a bang, launching into a set packed with hits like "Let Me Go," "Paris," and "Sick Boy” complete with confetti cannons and smoke machines. Bringing back Daya for a special appearance added a layer of excitement while a stage crasher losing a shoe during the performance added a humorous touch to the night. They unleashed the viral favourite "Selfie”, a song that they uploaded as a joke, before showcasing their knack for creating crowd-pleasing mashups like "Seven Nation Army - No Friends" & "Closer - In Da Club”.
Palm Tree Festival was a seamless blend of nostalgia, innovation, and high-octane performances. Each artist brought their A-game, creating moments that will linger in fans’ memories for a very long time. The Showgrounds once again proved to be a stellar venue, with smooth entry and top-tier production values. This event was a celebration of electronic music and community, leaving attendees (us included) eagerly awaiting Palm Tree 2025
