Bliss n Eso The Sun Tour 2022

It’s not hard to see why Bliss n Eso have had a successful career spanning over 20 years if you have seen them perform live. We attended the Port Macquarie show on their ‘The Sun’ tour and to be a hundred percent honest I will struggle to find anything but great things to say about the concert. The compliments will even extend to their support act Nerve who was the perfect warm up for the BnE boys, with his lyrical, fast paced rapping and crowd engagement, he in himself was hard to fault and demonstrated the talent the Australian Hip Hop scene continues to produce. Nerve and his DJ, Smak both from Brisbane, played some new material, Different and Smak’s latest, Mood Swings as well as some of the better known hits by way of Sunday Roast and One in a Million and finished off the set by jumping into the crowd to complete the song, rapping from inside the surrounding punters and never missing a line. Watching Nerve the future looks bright for the scene in Australia.

Now for who everyone had paid money to see, Bliss n Eso, and I must say, I agree with the person I overheard say, “it was worth every cent” From start to finish The Godfathers of the Australian Hip Hop movement had an vitality that never slowed and a presence which only supports their massive popularity across a range of age groups. A healthy mix of the demographic was in attendance, with different ages, sexes and personalities all represented, from your just 18’s to the people that have supported the band from the very beginning. The big range of Merch that was on offer got snapped up pretty quickly and soon the auditorium was a sea of singlets, t-shirts and hoodies all bearing the BNE name.

Trust me when I say no one was left disappointed with Bliss n Eso delivering songs from their latest album, The Sun including Send It, OG’s and Lighthouse as well as a peppering of back catalogue classics that made the band a household name such as The Sea Is Rising, Tear The Roof Off , and Moments. The DJ Izm and DK mash up provided an on point interlude that kept the crowd excitement levels right up there while allowing Bliss and Eso to get a well earned drink, and a chance to catch their breath. Props to DK the drummer, who never missed a beat which is not an easy thing to do when accompanying a band with such intense levels of stamina. Bliss and Eso themselves were engaging , charismatic and high energy and worked the stage like the seasoned professionals they are, crisscrossing constantly, allowing everyone to get that interactive experience which only left them screaming for more. It was obvious the MC’s love their fans and love what they do and want everyone to walk away loving them a little bit more. Which they all did, without a doubt.

If you haven’t seen Bliss N Eso live you’re missing out ! This is definitely a band you need to see live if you love Hip Hop, if you love Rap or if you just love great live Australian music.

A big thankyou to Andy from Illusive Events , Frontier Touring and Dean Hammer, for looking after us and the invitation to attend as well as the helpful staff at Port Macquarie Panthers.
