Bowling For Soup - Bowl My Bones - Melbourne
Bowling For Soup brought exactly the kind of chaos you’d hope for to The Forum. The room was packed early, everyone was already buzzing before the band even came out, and once the lights dropped it instantly turned into one giant pop-punk singalong.
The opener did a great job setting the tone for the night too. Talk Heavy came out with a lot of energy and got the crowd moving pretty quickly, which honestly isn’t always easy at these kinds of shows. By the time Bowling For Soup hit the stage, the whole venue already felt alive and warmed up.
What makes Bowling For Soup still work so well live is that they don’t take themselves too seriously. The whole show felt loose and natural. Jaret Reddick spent half the night joking around with the crowd, throwing out random stories and little comments between songs, and it made the whole thing feel more personal instead of overly polished.
The crowd absolutely carried the energy too. Every chorus turned into a massive shout-along, with people jumping, spilling drinks, throwing arms around each other and fully leaning into the nostalgia of it all. It felt like everyone in the room had some connection to these songs, whether they grew up with them or found them later on.
The Forum was the perfect venue for it. Once the room heated up, it had that classic sweaty Melbourne gig feeling where the floor starts bouncing and everything becomes a blur of lights, noise, and people screaming lyrics back at the stage.
It wasn’t trying to be some huge dramatic production. It was just a really fun night with a band that clearly still loves what they do, and a crowd more than happy to meet them there.
Sometimes that’s all a show really needs to be.
