Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls - Bowl My Bones Tour - Melbourne
Frank Turner’s show at the Forum felt less like a concert and more like a room full of people letting go together for a couple of hours. From the second he walked on stage, there was this immediate connection between him and the crowd that never really faded. No massive theatrics, no over-the-top production, just good songs, real energy, and a packed venue ready to scream every word back at him.
The thing about Frank Turner shows is how personal they feel, even in a room full of strangers. One moment the whole crowd was bouncing around like a punk show, the next everyone was locked into quieter moments with complete attention. He’s always had that balance between chaos and sincerity, and live is where it hits hardest.
The Forum suited the night perfectly too. The venue already has this warmth to it, and once the room filled up and the crowd found its rhythm, it felt electric. The floor was constantly moving, beers flying, people with arms around each other shouting lyrics at the ceiling like they’d been holding them in for years.
Frank himself looked completely at home up there. There’s nothing forced about the way he performs. He talks to the crowd like actual people, not just an audience, and that honesty carries through the whole set. You could tell how much the room meant to him, and Melbourne gave that energy straight back. His band sounded tight all night too, bringing a lot of weight and energy to the bigger moments without losing the rawness that makes the songs work in the first place. Everything felt loose in a good way, like the show could spill in any direction at any moment but always land exactly where it needed to.
By the middle of the set, the Forum had fully turned into one giant singalong. Not in a polished arena kind of way either, more messy and emotional and human. The kind of gig where everyone walks out sweaty, exhausted, and somehow feeling a little lighter afterward.
Frank Turner has built a career out of making people feel seen, and in Melbourne that night, you could really feel that connection filling the room
Thank you to Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls, Destroy All Lines, Dallas Does PR and the Forum for having us along.
