Fear Factory - Cybernetic Domination Tour
U.S metal legends Fear Factory smashed into Australia on their Cybernetic Domintation tour, 35 Years Of Fear. Bringing their fury to Tassie for the first time. Formed in '89 in L.A by guitarist and solo remaining member Dino Cazares. They pioneered a fusion of brutal industrial beats and death metal aggression that would influence generations, this was set to be a massive night.
Hometown kings Psycroptic hit the stage first, immediately initiating a raw masterclass of metal, with intricate precision the band powered through old fan favorites and some new tracks. They quickly made the Odeon feel tight and intimate, igniting the crowd with ferocious energy. Homegrown extremity, this was a big one for tassie metal fans.
After a killer set from Psycroptic the time had come for Fear Factory to take the stage, their first show in Tassie and fans old and new were heaving with anticipation.
Fear Factory opened with ‘What Will Become’ from their 2001 album Digimortal, delivering that pummeling sound that has defined the band for 3 and a half decades.
Their set leaned heavily into classic fan favorites like ‘Edgecrusher’ and ‘Demanufacture’.
Thunderous riffs from Dino on guitar paired with Milo Silvestro's massive vocal range and driven hard by the rhythm of touring bassist Ricky Bonazza and PeteWebber who joined the band on drums in 2023.
Brutal, high energy kept the crowd pumping all night and at one point a sea of horizontal human bodies kept spilling over the crowd barrier from the mosh.
Guttural growls and melodic hooks, the band stayed tight all night, and the crowd kept screaming for more almost frothing at the mouth, to be expected from a room full of die-hard Fear Factory fans.
Total Domination.
