For those who have been around the hip-hop scene and Ivan Oozes development on the Sydney map, his ascension and where he finds himself today is actually pretty fucking amazing. Transitioning from only seeing him warm up shows for the likes of Bliss N Eso to headlining his own gig felt like such a massive circle judging by tonight he's exactly where he is supposed to be.

Ivan took the stage with DJ Stevey and from the drop, the gig felt like an immediately amazing time.

There was none of the usual awkward warm up set with people checking their phones, the energy was there straight away. Ivan was bouncing up and down the tiny stage, mingling with and acknowledging the crowd whilst absolutely belting out each and every single track, somehow making the lansdowne feel exponentially bigger.

Stevey is in equal regard to Ivan’s set. The two of them look and play really well together on the decks, as Ivan himself looked like he genuinely enjoyed being on that stage. There was no manufactured energy or a painstakingly choreographed show which made everything feel even more real, more personal if possible.

And that, is what made the show fucking fantastic to attend.

Intimate and high-energy, The Lansdowne is built for shows like this. You aren't just watching, you're part of it. The audience gets to feel completely connected to the show, driving a rising tide of energy straight toward Ivan and Stevey center stage.

Ivan’s set boasted an incredibly wonderful mix of confidence coupled with a delightful chaos and he knew exactly how to command the crowd without an ounce of it feeling forced or over produced, and even if you walked in with only one Ivan Ooze track in your heart- chances were you'd leave singing more.

It also felt really special just to watch him finally get a headline spot where you see the exact same faces from those early gig shows as the only ones lining up at the front, with new fans joining in this time around…solely, for him.

Its a big one.

By the end of it felt like less a show at The Lansdowne and more a party all organized through the stages, it felt incredibly fitting.

You really absolutely should see Ivan Ooze live if given the opportunity

It will be loud, ridiculous fun, very chaotic and pretty much all you need at a sick hip-hop show.
