We Came As Romans - Because We’re Doomed Tour
Friday night at The Tivoli was packed, loud and ready to erupt. We Came As Romans hit Brisbane on their Because We’re Doomed Tour, supporting their new 2025 album 'All Is Beautiful… Because We’re Doomed', with Caskets and local favourites Headwreck rounding out a stacked lineup. From the the moment the doors opened, you could feel this was going to be one of those nights.
Headwreck kicked things off and wasted no time getting the room moving. The Brisbane band have built an almost cult like following, and the crowd treated them like headliners. Every breakdown hit hard and the pit opened early. Their sound was rough, fast and straight to the point, setting the tone for the rest of the night. It was the perfect hometown start.
Caskets followed with a more melodic edge but kept the intensity high. Led by vocalist Matt Flood, the UK band balanced heavy riffs with big emotional hooks. Flood’s clean vocals carried easily across the theatre, giving songs like 'Make Me a Martyr' and 'Drowned in Emotion' real weight. The set felt tight, confident and polished from the first track.
As things built 'Guiding Light', 'Lost in Echoes' and 'Glass Heart' landed strong, filling the room with thick guitars and huge choruses. Flood’s stage presence was calm but commanding, connecting naturally with the crowd. By the end of their set, Caskets showed why they can be headliners in their own right, leaving a lasting impression well beyond a typical support slot.
When the lights dropped again, the energy jumped instantly. We Came As Romans stormed the stage and launched straight in. New songs from 'All Is Beautiful… Because We’re Doomed' mixed seamlessly with older favourites, moving between crushing breakdowns and big emotional moments. In a room like The Tivoli, every drum hit felt heavier and louder.
Frontman Dave Stephens owned the stage, constantly moving and pushing the crowd to give more. His mix of screams and clean vocals kept everything dynamic, while the floor turned into a swirl of circle pits and crowd surfers. 'Cold Like War', 'Black Hole', 'Darkbloom' and 'Daggers' hit hardest, sending the room into one last wave of chaos. Tight, powerful and relentless from start to finish.
By the time the lights came up, everyone looked wrecked in the best way. Three strong bands, zero weak moments and wall to wall energy all night. Simple, heavy and unforgettable, exactly how a Tivoli show should feel.
Thanks to We Came As Romans, Caskets, Headwreck, Destroy All Lines, Dallas Does PR and The Tivoli for having us along.
