Tokyo rock band Guitar Wolf is heading downunder in March, with the band returning to Australia to showcase their new album ‘MORE JET’. The new body of work is the group’s first in 7 years and Guitar Wolf’s frontman Seiji can’t wait to see what the band’s legion of fans here thinks of the new material. We caught up with Seiji to chat about the new album, the upcoming tour and how he stays on top of his game while touring internationally.

Seiji, Guitar Wolf has recently released your latest album ‘MORE JET!’, your first new body of work in seven years. Tell us about the album, what can the listener expect when they press play?

 When they press play?
BOOM. Explosion.

“MORE JET!” is not just an album. It’s a detonation of Rock ’n’ Roll!

Everybody blow up your head!

Is ‘MORE JET!’ a continuation or an evolution of your previous albums?

It’s both. Guitar Wolf is one track mind. We go forward at full speed.

The spirit is the same as 1987 — reckless, primitive, dangerous. But the fire burns hotter now.

So it’s more Jet!

That’s the rock’n’roll ghost. If it doesn’t haunt you, it’s not real.
— Seiji

Which track gets stuck in your head long after you have left the stage and why?

‘God. Speed. You’ Because speed stays in your bones.

After the show, when I’m alone, I still hear the snare cracking like a gunshot. That’s the rock’n’roll ghost. If it doesn’t haunt you, it’s not real.

March sees you return to Australia for an extensive national tour to deliver ‘MORE JET!’ live for your fans here. What else can ticket holders expect from a Guitar Wolf live show?

Sweat.
Feedback.
Chaos.
Love.

Guitar Wolf live is not a concert. It’s a rock’n’roll riot.

And here is good news too, If you bathe in my sweat, you won't catch a cold this year.

Australian rock fans are real. That’s why we come back.
— Seiji

You toured here in 2023 and 2025, what makes Australia special for you? What keeps bringing you back to our shores?

Australian rock fans are real. That’s why we come back. Rock’n’roll must be played where it’s alive.

And another reason is the scandal with the Australian actress.

Apart from your passport, what else is must pack essential for you, especially for an international tour?

The JET spirit in my pocket

Loud amps clear my head. The stage is my therapy.
— Seiji

Touring can be exhausting for musicians both physically and mentally, how do you manage your physical and mental wellbeing whilst on the road?

GuitarWolf tours used to be very hard, but now I've built up even more stamina than back then. Every night I go full JET and blow the roof off.

My secret to staying healthy on tour? Beer and dried natto. Natto contains the world's strongest bacteria—it even beats the coronavirus. Since I started carrying dried natto with me decades ago, I haven't caught a cold or had an upset stomach.

Mental health? Rock’n’roll and beautiful Australian women.

Seiji, you formed Guitar Wolf in 1987, so what has been the highlight for you of a career with such longevity?

We are still loud.

Playing CBGB in New York.
Touring the world.

The highlight is survival with volume at maximum.

The highlight is survival with volume at maximum.

Who in your crew or team deserves a shout out but never gets one? And what is it they do that keeps your world turning?

The sound engineers and our crew who fight feedback monsters.

They don’t stand in the spotlight — but without them, there is no explosion.

They are silent JET.

Do you have a message for all the Guitar Wolf fans and supporters in Australia?

I'm so happy to be back in Australia!

But Australia — prepare yourselves!

We are bringing MORE JET.
If you come to the show, come ready. We'll welcome at you with a sound so loud it'll have koalas running scared all over the place.

See you in the front row.

JET!!
