New Year’s is coming and we can’t wait! NYE in the Park is the only festival taking place in Sydney on NYE and after attending last year’s event, trust us when we say this is one crakka of a party. The line-up for NYE in the Park includes Australian and International artists and bands, many of who have been on tour overseas, and are returning for the Harbour city’s best New Year’s event. MFA caught up with some of the line-ups to ask them about NYE in the Park, what fans can look forward to and who’s set they’re most keen to watch. First up…. grentperez
You are one of the Artists confirmed to perform at NYE in the Park, the only festival event happening in Sydney on NYE. Are you excited to be a part of this celebration to welcome in the new year?
Absolutely!! What a way to wrap up what was already an amazing year. Truly the cherry on top.
NYE in the Park is a long-standing event with a diverse bunch of attendees, set in the middle of the harbour city. Have you participated before and if not what are you anticipating?
Sadly, I have not attended before so this will be my first time. I’m honestly hoping to party with folks that enjoy and create a diverse bunch of music. 2022 has been good to me, so I feel I should give a little bit in return.

How do you prepare yourself for a festival event like NYE in the Park?
Definitely a lot of rehearsal, I've had my tour to warm up a bit but you can never be too prepared. I’ve got to prepare my outfit as well as practice my jokes and stage banter too, make sure to not flunk; I’ll probably give mum and dad a good ol’ too.
What can punters expect from your upcoming performance at this New Year’s Eve event? Any surprises planned?
You can expect a crackup but credible show, there’s surprisingly a lot of jumping and rowdiness coming from a dude that releases chill music. I’ve also got a few unreleased tracks ready to pounce for the NYE set.
Apart from your own, who's set are you most looking forward to seeing played at NYE in the Park?
Quite a few acts actually, I’ve never seen Flight Facilities live, so I’ll be ready to dance with them, Lime Cordiale always plays a bonkers show, Vacations gives off such an amazing feel and I’ve been such a fan of Becca Hatch for quite some time now. So quite a lot to look forward to.

If you could collaborate with any artist from this great line-up, who would it be and why?
Lime Cordiale and Vacations could be a gnarly collaboration for me, Lime’s sound is so iconic, I love the fun, good-feeling nature of their music, much the same I can say about Vacations, just with a little more indie twang, a much more loose and free feel.
What does a normal NYE look like for you? How do you usually ring in the New Year?
To be honest, my New Year’s have been rather wholesome the past few years, typically with the family watching the new years fireworks at home or in person when we can. But with that carries a lot of Post new years traditions like eating 12 grapes, jumping up and down, opening the windows, a few funny superstitions haha.
What is your message for everyone who's coming to NYE in the Park?
I’m looking forward to seeing all of your beautiful faces! It’s gonna be a crackup of a show, so get ready to move around and do whatever you want tbh <3
