New Year’s is coming and we can’t wait! NYE in the Park is the only festival taking place in Sydney on NYE and after attending last year’s event, trust us when we say this is one crakka of a party. The line-up for NYE in the Park includes Australian and International artists and bands, many of who have been on tour overseas, and are returning for the Harbour city’s best New Year’s event. MFA caught up with some of the line-ups to ask them about NYE in the Park, what fans can look forward to and who’s set they’re most keen to watch. Next on the list is the gloriously vivacious, Hockers.
You are one of the Artists confirmed to perform at NYE in the Park, the only festival event happening in Sydney on NYE. Are you excited to be a part of this celebration to welcome in the new year?
The POOF DOOF Neon Hoedown is very excited to be dusting off our boots and getting ready for a New Years’ celebration like no other! Be prepared for a bucking amazing neon western takeover with epic DJ sets from our side stage saloon and iconic drag and dance performances from our cast of queens and queerdos. Expect a rodeo side show featuring interactive games, giveaways and so many more camp surprises!

NYE in the Park is a long-standing event with a diverse bunch of attendees, set in the middle of the harbour city. Have you participated before and if not what are you anticipating?
This is POOF DOOF’s second year at NYE in the Park; last year we activated our Drag Jamboree to great reception from the community and festival goers alike.
This year we have taken off the chaps and gone full bareback expecting an even more amazing turnout of guests ready to get down with our drag superstars - Giddy Up!
How do you prepare yourself for a festival event like NYE in the Park?
Step 1: Source the BEST queer talent from our paddock of legends!
Step 2. Polish your boots and practice your line dancing!
Step 3. Serve a fierce neon western fit including hat, halter and chaps! Yee-Haw!

What can punters expect from your upcoming performance at this New Year’s Eve event? Any surprises planned?
Our theme for this year’s festival is Neon Hoedown: a futuristic country and western takeover of NYE in the Park!
Think wild and hunky horsemen, queens in daisy dukes, toffee apples and country fair fun dialled up to 100% as we give this kiki a futuristic neon twist from both a décor/visual production and performance perspective.
Expect the unexpected when POOF DOOF rolls into town on its steed, but be sure to look out for incredible sets from the best queer DJs in Sydney, out-of-this-world futuristic western décor and more queens than a Freddie Mercury impersonation show!
