Comiskey’s gift to Aura

First came the announcement that The Comiskey Group would be bringing Australia its first world-class festival site and now they have added to the good news for music lovers, with the group sharing the first details of their new industry-changing venture. The team behind Sandstone Point Hotel and Eatons Hill Hotel announce the development of another iconic QLD venue - this time in the Aura community of the Sunshine Coast.

The new Sunshine Coast’s development will house the largest music venue and hotel, nestled in Australia’s largest master-planned community, Stockland Aura. Just a quick 10-minute drive from Caloundra and adjacent to the Bruce highway. The 35 million dollar investment by The Comiskey Group will be the crowning jewel of Aura’s premium entertainment district located in the City’s Centre and will back onto an 11-hectare Southbank-style parkland.

Patrons will experience the elite hospitality The Comiskey Group are renowned for delivering including internal and alfresco dining areas, six bars, gaming room and function spaces. The new venue will present a unique space for local, interstate and international artists to deliver their tours to not only the bustling community but to thousands of punters that will visit the site.

The site will be equipped with first-rate entertainment facilities, a world-class PA and lighting system, a band room, a mezzanine level and the capacity to host over 2,500 patrons. Aura sits just 10 minutes from the Coochin Fields development site, The Comiskey Group’s major 150-hectare outdoor festival site, making this new addition a logical addition to create “create a thriving epicentre of entertainment for the Sunshine Coast”. The new home of music is expected to be up and running by late 2024.

Aura is a 6-star Green Star-rated community and is already home to more than 10,000 residents, with the potential for another 20,000 new homes with future proposed City Centre to include a regional shopping centre, cinemas, restaurants, cafes, medical facilities, an urban university campus, private schools, transit centre, and vibrant public spaces.

Josh Sondergeld, Project Director at Stockland Aura, has stated : “We are thrilled that The Comiskey Group has chosen Aura as the location for its next venue, which will give our growing community access to a world-class entertainment destination. We look forward to welcoming this venue which will become a recreational hub for our residents and visitors to enjoy a family meal, celebrate a milestone or attend a major live international act,”

The Comiskey Group’s Entertainment Director, Jonathan (Jono) Jackson believes their new facilities are a much-needed and welcome addition to the region. “The Sunshine Coast offers an incredible lifestyle, it is an exceptional place to visit, but we saw a gap in the market in terms of live music venues. The region’s ongoing population growth creates demand for premium production opportunities locally. Sunshine Coast and Aura residents can expect world-class talent on their doorstep!”

The Comiskey Group’s live music venue and hotel joins the many world-class projects that have already been announced from the group in 2022, and with more news to come we suggest you keep an eye on their website to find out what’s next.
