Descendents - Run Down Under Tour ‘26

Californian punk rock royalty the Descendents played their first show in Tassie to a packed out Odeon Theatre.

Kicking off the night was Hobart's own RABBITT , a fun little 5 piece with big charm. They played a killer set with big riffs and lots of attitude. Full of character and that local flavour, they eased in slowly and finished big and charming drawing the crowd in.

Next up, 208L Containers hit the stage, welcoming themselves as the John Butler Trio and having a crack at some politicians, if Hobarts loose unit energy was a band, they are it.

Hilarious and authentic, they were heaps of fun and packed an absolute punch, with big heavy tracks they had smiles on faces and hands in the air.

Both supports were a showcase of local punk at its best, they had the crowd screaming with excitement and filled the room tight.

It was time for the Descendents to play and fans were absolutely pumped, their first show in Tassie, as part of their Run Down Under tour. the 30th anniversary of their acclaimed '96 album Everything Sucks .

The Descendents formed in the late 70s, frustrated surfer kids from Manhattan beach who went onto create a catalogue of genre defining music that spans the better part of five decades.

This made the crowd at Odeon theatre extremely diverse, all ages, all walks of life, multiple generations of families, all there for one thing. Punk Rock.

From the opening beat to the final chord, the set was a non-stop rush of breakneck drum beats, crunchy riffs and Milo Aukerman's highly recognisable and hyperactive vocals.

The band sounded tight and hungry to play for loyal Tassie fans and the crowd was fully invested with big sing-alongs and heavy moshing. They opened with title track ‘Everything Sux’, and went onto play the whole album plus some extras from across their massive catalogue.

Fans sang word for word with clenched fists and huge grins, it was sweaty and loud but a genuinely joyful experience for such a furious sound.

The Descendents played a smart high paced set of fun music to a room of extremely passionate fans.

An honest treat for Apple Isle Punks.
