Thundercat - Australia Tour 2026

Thundercat is currently smashing his way through his Australian tour in support of his new album distracted.

He hit Hobarts Odeon Theatre on Sunday 10th of May and he brought the whole band, Dennis Hamm on keys and Justin Brown on drums.

Thundercat began his musical journey in his home town of Los Angeles, honing his skills laying down punishing low-end bass for thrash legends, Suicidal Tendencies.

Since then he's gone to make a name for himself collaborating with artists like Flying Lotus, Erykah Badu, Childish Gambino and Kendrick Lamar for which his work on ‘These Walls’ with Kendrick earned him his first Grammy.
Rolling Stone has ranked him one of the greatest bass players of all time.

Half an hour before doors at the Odeon, the line down the street had stretched down around the corner and it was clear it would be a full house.

Opening the night was Tassie local Baddi Adi, who warmed the crowed up with a high energy opening set full of deep grooves and silky blends.
Baddi Adi spun funk infused house with an R&B twist, bass heavy with smooth drops. The perfect way to prime the room for Thundercat.

Thundercat hit the stage to a packed house of fans ready to release their energy. Opening the night with Children of baked potatohe went on to blend tight new tracks like candle light and Anakin learns his fate.
We had some Star Wars jokes and a reference to Thundercat’s appearance in the franchise, a lifetime achievement for him.

He gave us the classics like Dragonball Durag and Them Changes, delivering a jaw dropping night of sleek funky grooves.
Thundercat has a psychedelic soulful approach to his music and his stage banter, it felt like we were hanging out with a long lost crazy uncle who happens to be a gifted virtuoso in the realm of rhythm.

Europhobic and hypnotic, The tracks just kept coming until the whole room was on their feet.
It was a solid 10/10 show from a true master.
