Midnight Til Morning
There's something different about walking into a show knowing you're about to hear songs that have never been played live before, and Midnight Til Morning's exclusive Sydney show at Oxford Art Factory had exactly that feeling.
From the opening Walk Way into Ghost Of Us and Easy, the band wasted no time settling into the night. Rather than feeling like a standard set, the show felt more personal, with moments of chatting between songs breaking down the barrier between the band and the crowd and making the room feel even more intimate.
The first big moment came with the live premiere of 365, before another brand new live moment followed with Lose Your Head. Hearing songs performed live for the first time is always special, but having multiple premieres packed into the same show made this one feel like something the Sydney crowd genuinely got to experience first.
Midway through the set, Midnight Til Morning switched things up with their take on Bruno Mars' Locked Out Of Heaven. It was a fun change of pace before the band moved into Bittersweet and yet another live premiere with One Love.
One of the things that worked so well about the night was the pacing. There were plenty of songs, but the little conversations scattered throughout the set meant it never felt like the band were simply racing through a playlist. It gave everyone in the room a chance to connect with the personalities behind the music.
Then came another standout moment with the live debut of Anything, followed by Math and Navy Eyes. By this point, it was clear the show wasn't just about playing favourites, it was also a glimpse into where Midnight Til Morning are heading next and we are excited to follow their journey
The final stretch brought Bye, Edge Of Amazing and Heart On Fire, closing out a set that managed to balance fan favourites, fresh live moments, a cover and genuine interaction with the audience.
For anyone who was in that room, this wasn't simply another sydney show. With 365, Lose Your Head, One Love, Bittersweet and Anything all receiving live premieres, it felt like getting an early look at the next chapter of Midnight Til Morning.
And if this show was any indication, that next chapter is going to be worth watching.
