Good Gumnuts presents Tia Gostelow

Good Gumnuts Festival is a family-friendly event that aims to celebrate music, culture, and lifestyle in an inclusive way. The 3rd edition of the Good Gumnuts is set to take place on the 4th & 5th of January in Burnie, Tasmania, with a giant roster of Australian artists and bands from a variety of genres. We caught up with Tia Gostelow, who is performing at the festival, to ask about her Good Gumnuts preparations, what fans can look forward to and who she would like to join on stage from the extensive lineup.

You are one of the acts announced for the 2025 Gumnut Festival happening in Tasmania on the 4th & 5th of January.  Are you looking forward to starting the year off as part of this all Australian line-up?

I’m so excited! I love Tasmania so much and any excuse I get to come down, I will. Such a fun way to start the year!

How do you prepare yourself for a festival event like Good Gumnuts Festival?

Obviously rehearsing with my band and making sure we all feel good. Choosing an outfit is always one of my favourite parts of playing a festival!

What can punters expect from your upcoming performance in glorious Burnie?

A mix of songs from all 3 of my albums and lots of fun! Being on stage with my band is one of my favourite places to be, especially when we’re in a place as beautiful as Burnie!

If you could jump on stage and collaborate with any artist or band from the Gumnuts line-up, who would it be and why?

That’s so hard to pick! But if I really had to, I’d say either Jack River or Merci Mercy, I’m a huge fan of both of those incredible women.

What’s the one song from your back catalogue you will definitely be including in your Good Gumnuts set and why?

I really love playing ‘Phone Me’. It’s from my first album ‘Thick Skin’ and it always blows my mind when people sing along to this one. It’s crazy to me that songs I wrote when I was 17/18 are still resonating. It’s a feeling that’s hard to explain unless you’ve felt it before!

What's your favourite festival memory either as a scheduled act or as an attendee?

I would have to say when I went to my first Splendour in The Grass when I was 14. My amazing mum took me and my best friend and the feeling I had walking into the Amphitheatre is one I won’t forget! I literally saw Kelis, Lily Allen, Childish Gambino and Outkast!

Do you have a message for the attendees that are coming to see you play at Good Gumnuts Festival?

Soak up the time with your besties, enjoy the music and sing really, really loud!
