Brisbane progressive-metal band Citadel have released their second single, ‘Parasyte’. A cathartic and stirring track, that details the harrowing slew of emotions guitarist Nat Patterson dealt with during the ending of his engagement, coinciding with the death of a close family member and it is just the begining of the journey for this charismatic Australian band. We threw some questions at band members Nat and Russell to find out more about the formation of Citadel, the new music they are delivering including ‘Parasyte’ and the music that has shaped their lives.

Caravana Sun’s Summer Escape Fest

Sydney band Caravana Sun have always written music with the festival stage in mind, so it was only a natural transition that they would one day create their own festival. Summer Escape Fest is a family friendly, all-ages event happening on the Sunshine Coast this September, and with the support this festival is already receiving you can be sure this will be a regular event added to the festival calendar. MFA wanted to ask the Caravana Sun lads about what inspired them to tackle organising their own festival, and what punters can expect from this solid Australian music line-up.

Restricted is a name you are going to hear more of as he continues to carve his path in the world of electronic music. Having already collaborated with likes of Dimatik and Savage his ability to create solid dance music is already generating him a solid reputation. As Restricted’s Australia & New Zealand tour is coming to an end we grabbed the chance to ask this rising EDM star a few questions about his tour, what it’s like when big name artists play his music in their sets and the opportunity to play at this year’s massive Lunar Electric Festival.

No losing with CLAUDIO

STONEWAX

STONEWAX is an experimental producer/engineer/musician based on the Sunshine Coast who has set the bar high with the first of his many collaborations to be released over the next months. The first, TGHC (THE GREAT HARMONIC CONVERGENCE) features the angsty flow from Meanjin based MC Roman and was produced by STONEWAX himself at him home studio. With a blend of hip hop and psychedelia, STONEWAX is the ultimate convergence of creative exploration. MKA wanted to ask STONEWAX about the unique sound he is developing, the new song and about the collaborations coming.

Ibazz: The future King of Newy

Newcastle DJ Ibazz has dropped his latest track, a remix of Lost Frequencies ‘Where are you now’ which features Calum Scott and the song is gaining him lots of attention. While Ibazz is not only making his own and remixing music he is also the resident DJ at two of the region’s clubs, King Street & The Argyle House, which gives him the perfect platform to introduce punters to the tunes he is creating. We sat down to ask Ibazz some questions about ‘Where are you now’, the challenges involved in remixing, and the dream of collaborating with Armin van Buuren one day.

The Party Life turns 500

July 2nd sees the 500th Episode of The Party Life, a dance music radio show which airs every Thursday from 5PM, and is broadcast to over 22 locations across the ACT, NSW & VIC, hosted by DJ Fuel on RAWFM. The Party Life has attracted some of the biggest local and international Artists for interviews and guest mixes. and the 500th Episode is no exception with the live show being recorded at Newcastle’s King Street club, and including guests Daniel Tonik, Shiralee Coleman, Sabro, and Australia’s very own king of the decks Nick Skitz. Before the celebrations begin we took time out to ask DJ Fuel about this huge milestone, his favorite moments from the last 499 shows, and what fans can look forward to from this super special edition of The Party Life.

Boo Seeka living the Dream

This Thursday sees the release of Boo Seeka’s highly anticipated second album and we are not sure who’s more excited, him or his fans. The ‘Between the Head and the Heart’ LP includes Boo’s singles ‘Next To Me’, ‘Real’ & ‘Dream’ which have been a great teaser for what else is to come. In between completing his album Boo also joined forces with local legend Hayden James, to produce ‘Free’ which the duo performed for the first time together at COACHELLA of all places. Before life gets crazy busy for him again, MFA had the absolute pleasure to ask Mr Seeka some questions about the new album, his crazy ideas that drive his management crazy and what it’s like to play at the world’s biggest festival.

30 Years of Vicious

The label that kickstarted the careers of Avicii, Madison Avenue, Peking Duk, Dirty South, and so many more is celebrating a massive 30 years in the music industry. Founded in Australia, by Co-founders John Course and Andy Van (Madison Avenue), the two have been integral in developing Australian artists and exporting their House and Dance Music productions across the world. We were fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to ask co-founder John Course about the first 30 years of Vicious, including its conception, how they are planning to celebrate this massive milestone and his stand-out moments so far in the Vicious journey.

Better Than Ever , The Wrecks

Today is release day for The Wrecks, second album Sonder and the band are so glad that fans can hear what they have been working on throughout the lockdowns and pandemic. The ‘Sonder’ album is the follow up album to 2020’s Infinitely Ordinary and the handful of EP’s the band released in early years. The band have just kicked off their ‘Better Than Ever’ tour in the US, a tour the band are hoping to bring downunder in the near future. We spoke to The Wrecks Vocalist/Producer, Nick Anderson about the new album, the highs and lows of touring and the bands eagerness to play any festival offered.

Welcome back Motor Ace

After a sell out national tour in 2018, that saw the return to the stage for the beloved Aussie band, Motor Ace are back to celebrate twenty years of Five Star Laundry - the landmark album that catapulted them on to the global music scene with a National Tour and a 20th Anniversary re-issue of their debut album which will be released as a limited edition on November 5th. Motor Ace have also released their first new music in a while with ‘Knock Knock’ the first track off their forthcoming EP, due out later this year. We had a chance to ask the band about the new music their making, the up and coming National tour and getting back to the festival circuit this coming summer.

Lily Jade may be a new name to you, but it won’t be for long. This young and talented Australian singer has released her first single ‘Back 2 You’ and already has an EP recorded ready to gift the world. Lily Jade is the perfect role model for any up and coming singer/songwriter, her hard work and dedication to her craft has seen her attend Music Industry College and work with Asha Jefferies after winning the college’s Sarabah Songwriting Camp, and now she is set to launch her ‘Back 2 You’ single at a launch show in July. We took some time out to ask Lily Jade about her musical journey so far, her hopes to inspire other young people with Type 1 Diabetes, and her dream of collaborating with her idol Adele one day.

Jack Panther’s Lift to the Sky

This week sees the release of Jack Panther’s second EP, titled ‘why don't you come on over’ , which features his latest single ‘Ski Lift 001’ and the native NZ’er couldn’t be more excited to get the new music out into the world. The album demonstrates a “turning point” in Jack’s life, using the writing of the songs as a cathartic experience and a lesson in acceptance and letting go. MFA got to talk to Jack a couple of weeks ago and we asked him about ‘Ski Lift 001’ & its video, the evolution of his music on the new EP and the beautiful, fun, sassy queer track that he thinks he could make with Omar Apollo.

Rock on with Edgecliff

Northern Beaches rockers Edgecliff have released their brand new single ‘I’ll Be Gone’, combining rock and plenty of swagger. The band are busily preparing for their official launch event at the Avalon RSL on the 11th of June and their appearance at Running on Empty Festival in Cobar but they still took time out to talk to MFA about the new single, the early beginnings of the band in high school and what it’s like to be a tradie by day and a musician by night.

2022 is the year of Genes

Having written songs for Will Sparks, Young Franco and Nicky Romero, Genes has over 50 million global songwriting streams as well as 180k+ streams on her last single ‘Kind of Bi’ and 5.5k Tik Tok followers it’s not unreasonable to say Genes is the next wave of Aussie Pop. Her new song 'Crumble' is effervescent, fun and vibrant which Genes has been known to bring to each of her releases so far. MFA got the chance to chat to Genes, so we asked her about the new song, the difference in writing songs for herself instead of other people and the moment she “fangirled” over Guy Sebastian sharing one of her videos.

No Ego to Drop for Jannah Beth

What can be said about the collaboration of FRIENDLESS and JANNAH BETH, amazing and individual in their own right but pair them up and you get, Ego Drop, their latest song which serves as a teaser of what’s to come from their forthcoming EP ‘Fun’. We sat down with mesmerizingly unique Jannah Beth to talk to her about all the new music including her solo ep ‘Product of a Dreamer’, the creation of her recording studios, Offbeat Collective and the full circle moment from getting a Horrorshow tattoo to going on tour with him in the very near future.

A Savage Synthony

Savage is the “Big Man” with the “Big Voice” that became a international superstar thanks to his songs ‘Swing’ , later remixed by Australian EDM star, Joel Fletcher and ‘Freaks’ with legend, Timmy Trumpet. It was this success that led to the Pacific Music Awards to create the International Breakthrough award, which he has now taken home twice. He has shared a stage with icons of the hip hop world including Scribe, Kronic, Soulja Boy, and Akon but now he is about to hit the stage for a brand new experience, with a full orchestra for the unique event which is SYNTHONY.

SYNTHONY will play seven performances across the country kicking off on the 28th of May in Brisbane. MFA got a chance to ask Savage a few questions about being involved with this spectacular event, what the future holds for Savage and his band Deceptikonz and the hopes he has of teaming up with Timbaland.
